About Leanne Tormey
Leanne Tormey spent three years with the New York-based Carver Center and served as the nonprofit’s Chief Learning Officer. While there, Leanne Tormey developed an educational program that spanned all ages and stages of life, including: Infants and Toddlers, School-Age Children, Tweens & Teens, Adults and Seniors.
She designed the Center’s Continuum of Learning while defining program goals for each of life’s stages. In addition, she worked with the Center’s program leadership to provide Citizenship classes leading to United States citizenship, supported clients coping with food insecurity through the Carver Market, and oversaw the leadership of After School and Teen Center programming.
Dr. Tormey also led the Carver Center's Excellence work - developing rubrics so that every facet of the organization might be studied, rated and ultimately guided by staff-authored improvement plans. This project allowed Leanne Tormey to utilize skills she garnered while serving as a member of NEASC accreditation teams earlier in her career.
Leanne Tormey earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership, from the University of Connecticut in 2013.
While at Carver Center, she was involved in several community organizations, including the Port Chester Community Network and Public Schools’ Community Partners Group.
